Travel August 2012

After 15 days of moving through Gambian lands, we begin to feel part of this culture. We have been able to experience the pleasure of living very close to people and enjoying the experience of feeling that a job well done always gives good results.

The orchard of Touba Kolom that we visited last March, arid and dry, and with a small planter just warming engines, has taken shape and has given rise to an area of 8 hectares. Leafy, green, and fertile, embraced by the vivid colors of women’s dresses, the smell of wet earth, and the contact of the breeze with our sunburned skin. Welcome songs and cries of gratitude that fill us with satisfaction.

The Djaba Kunda school that is struggling to find its place and start up for good and to be able to welcome the youngest children in the village soon. Not an easy task, especially when the impediments are constant and permanent.

And the wonderful bee farm that has begun to take shape thanks to the contribution of Mirada Oberta and all the families of the Ramon Llull school. We have felt an important part of the process to be able to paint with our hands the beehives, to be able to live in first person our carpenter Dembo who with rigor and strength, has built the hives. And to be able to experience the fascinating audacity of colonizing a hive  in the middle of the Gambian night, under the humidity of the country.

Simply a bunch of wonderful sensations to which we invite you to participate in our future summer trip!
